About Art Therapy


Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses artistic expression and imagination as a way to explore emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. No specific talent is required, as anyone can make their mark; rather, emphasis is placed on the artistic process. The therapist will use the artwork created as a way to facilitate conversation and explore deeper issues.

 

This art-based therapy is effective with children, youth, and adults who may be dealing with anxiety, anger, depression, trauma, grief, loss, and more.

 

During a session, the art therapist will guide you (or your child) through the process of creating art by drawing, painting , sculpting, or other creative activities of your choice, as a way to express feelings and experiences. This art-based exploration will assist giving your inner world a form.

 

Through art therapy one can:

 

* Gain mastery over thoughts and feelings

* Increase self-esteem

* Identify abilities and strengths

* Explore new possibilities


As an art therapist, I am working with individuals of all ages in a home-based environment, with couples, families, as well as with groups in community-based venues.
